Croatian economy

Did you know that..

Croatia has just under 4 million inhabitants. As an EU member, it is part of the European single market and will also introduce the euro on January 1, 2023. This will further simplify online commerce in this country.
The biggest players in the Croatian market are ekupi.hr ($66 million in sales in 2021), followed by zara.com and bauhaus.hr. Furthermore, Croats like to shop at foreign companies such as eBay or Amazon (approx. 40% of Croatian online customers). English language skills are widespread, which is why English-language online stores also have a chance.

The most popular payment method is cash on delivery – to be successful on the Croatian market, this payment option should be offered in any case. The online payment service PayPal is also becoming increasingly popular.

Possible obstacles to e-commerce in Croatia are the often slow Internet connection and the low average net income of only 1200 euros per month.
