Bulgarian economy

Did you know that..

With its 6.5 million inhabitants, Bulgaria offers a comparatively small e-commerce market. However, we have seen very strong growth figures in recent years. In 2020, online retail grew by a full 52 percent. As in most other European countries, the fashion segment accounts for the largest share of sales, followed by electronics and media.

Bulgaria has been part of the European Union since 2007, but has its own currency: the Lev. The biggest players on the Bulgarian market are emag.bg, followed by technopolis.bg and fahiondays.bg.

A major challenge for online expansion is the long distance and mediocre infrastructure. Delivery from Germany or other western EU countries to Bulgaria can take up to 12 business days. Therefore, it is worth developing a shipping warehouse in the region.
